Eligibility Requirements:

Academic Admission Criteria

n order to be eligible for the scholarship, you need to be academically accepted by the programme you are applying for. This implies that you should meet all eligible criteria of the programme in order to be eligible for the scholarship.  Please check the requirements of the training or master programmes.

Scholarship Admission Criteria

You are a resident AND national of one of the countries on the country list (not necessarily the same country for residence and nationality). Please note that candidates must reside in one of these countries at the moment of application.

You are not older than 40 years* if you apply for a scholarship to follow a master programme. Or you are not older than 45 years* if you apply for a scholarship to follow a training programme. (* on 1 January 2014)

You have the required English proficiency. You need a proof of at least 1 year of comprehensive English-based instruction at a university or recognized equivalent. If not, a TOEFL test is required with a minimum total score of 550 on the paper based test (PBT), or 79 on an internet based test (IBT); or an IELTS test with a minimum overall band score of 6,5; or a proof of another test of similar level as TOEFLE or IELTS.

Present employment or reintegration perspectives are required for a training programme. The candidate must be currently employed or have a written (future) employer’s guarantee of (re)integration in an employment where the acquired knowledge and skills will be immediately applicable.   Professional experience and employment perspectives are not required for a master programme, but they can be a competitive advantage for selection, depending on the programme. Present employment or reintegration perspectives are required for a training programme. The candidate must be currently employed or have a written (future) employer’s guarantee of (re)integration in an employment where the acquired knowledge and skills will be immediately applicable.

Foreign Fulbright Student Program

Humphrey Fellowship Program

American University Scholarships

Amherst College Scholarships
Amherst College currently runs a need-based financial aid program that provides assistance to financially needy international students.  Once you have been admitted, your financial need is determined. A financial aid award that is equal to your need will then be offered.  The award is sometimes called an “aid package” because it may include both self-help (employment) and gift aid (scholarships and grants).

Arkansas University Scholarships
International students are eligible to apply about 10 scholarships offered at the University including the Chancellor’s Scholarship and the General University Scholarships.

Berea College Scholarships
At Berea College, every admitted student is awarded a 4-year, tuition scholarship. This scholarship works in conjunction with any other grants or scholarships students receive to completely cover the cost of tuition.  Additional costs, such as room, board, and fees, may also be covered by the College, depending upon your financial need. Colby-Sawyer College Scholarships

Columbia College Scholarships
Columbia College offers about 20 scholarships and awards to outstanding international students. The awards are one time cash grants and 25%- 100% tuition reduction.

Concordia College Scholarships
Concordia prizes the contributions international students make on campus and is pleased to provide partial financial assistance to international students. The International Student Scholarship is based on academic ability and family need, amounting up to $18,000 per year.

Cornell University Scholarships
Cornell has a limited amount of funding available for international undergraduates, only 30-40 scholarships are awarded to students in each entering class. The scholarships are either partial or full, based on the selected student’s need.

Dartmouth College Scholarships
Dartmouth College offers need-based financial aid to  all students, including international and transfer applicants . It does not award academic, athletic or merit scholarships. The College  is committed to meeting 100% of every student’s demonstrated need during their four years of undergraduate study.

East Tennessee State University
East Tennessee State University (ETSU) offers the International Students Academic Merit Scholarship for new international students seeking a graduate or undergraduate degree. The scholarship covers 50 percent of the total of in and out-of-state tuition and maintenance fees only. No additional fees or costs are covered. The scholarship award can only be used for study at ETSU.

East West Center
East-West Center offers Graduate Degree Fellowship for Master’s and Doctoral studies for students from Asia, the Pacific, and the U.S. to participate in educational and research programs at the East-West Center while pursuing graduate study at the University of Hawai‘i.  

Emory College Scholarships (NEW!)
Starting with the freshman application process for fall 2013 entry, Emory University will offer scholarship assistance to a select number of international undergraduate students. All citizens of foreign countries who are not permanent residents of the United States (living in the U.S. or abroad) will be reviewed for this new international scholarship.    Awards will range from partial to full tuition scholarships. Admission is highly competitive and funding is limited.

Illinois Wesleyan University Scholarships
Merit-based scholarships are offered to qualified international applicants with outstanding academic achievement and test scores on the required entrance exams. These awards range from $3,000 to $18,000 per year and are renewable for up to four years.  In addition, two full-tuition President’s International Student Scholarships may be awarded each year to two highly qualified international students.

Iowa State University Scholarships
International Student Ambassador Scholarships are awarded to incoming international students with exceptional leadership qualities and a desire to positively represent both their home country and Iowa State University to prospective students.  The awards range from $4,000 to $7,000 and are renewable.

Michigan University Scholarships
Michigan University provides a number of scholarship and grants to deserving international students at the undergraduate and postgraduate level.

New York University Wagner Scholarships
All international postgraduate student applicants at NYU Wagner are automatically considered for all merit-based scholarships, as the University gives equal consideration to scholarship applicants from within the United States and abroad. Oregon University Scholarships
At the University of Oregon you’ll find several sources of financial aid for international students, at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. Each year, the University of Oregon awards more than one million dollars in financial aid and scholarships to international students. Wesleyan University Scholarships
Wesleyan University offers limited scholarships for international students and is awarded on the basis of both exceptional qualifications and demonstrated need. In addition to the 11 Asian students who are awarded yearly under the Freeman Asian Scholars Program, they provide financial assistance to approximately 15 international students from a pool of over 400 such applicants.

University of the West Scholarships (NEW!)
For the 2013-2014 academic year, UWest has successfully raised funds to continue providing the Lotus Gold Scholarships for international students worth $10,000.

York University Scholarships
The University of York offers competitive scholarships to overseas Masters and PhD students.  The awards cover partial to full tuition fees.

Joint Japan World Bank Graduate Scholarships
The Joint Japan World Bank Graduate Scholarship Program provides full scholarships to students from World Bank member countries to pursue development-related studies at selected Universities around the world. Students can choose to study in 8 participating USA Universities including Harvard University, John Hopkins University, University of Chicago, Cornell University and Columbia University.

AAUW International Fellowships
AAUW (formerly known as the American Association of University Women) awards international fellowships  for full-time study or research in the United States to women who are not US citizens or permanent residents. The scholarship are worth $18,000 for Masters, 20,000 for PhD and $30,000 for Postdoctoral students.

Aga Khan Foundation International Scholarship Programme
The Aga Khan Foundation provides a limited number of scholarships each year for postgraduate studies to outstanding students from selected developing countries who have no other means of financing their studies.  The studies can be undertaken anywhere in the world including the US. Scholarships are awarded on a 50% grant : 50% loan basis through a competitive application process once a year.

The scholarship is not an amount of money that you will receive on your bank account but consists of a partial tuition waiver. The tuition fee will be waived to the level of an EEA student. Example: a grant holder in 2013/2014 pays a tuition fee of only € 1,835, instead of € 9,318 or € 10,260. In addition the Radboud Scholarship also covers costs such as for visa, residence permit,  health insurance and liability insurance.  This amounts to about € 1,000.

Eligibility:

Candidates who want to become eligible for a Radboud Scholarship must meet the requirements for eligibility. This means that applicants should:

1. hold a non-EU/EEA passport
2. not already be eligible for the lower EEA tuition fee.
3. have been fully admitted to the English-taught Master’s degree programme by the Student Affairs Office as stated in the formal letter of admission on behalf of the Executive Board.
4. be able to comply with the conditions for obtaining a visa for the Netherlands.
5. have been enrolled at Radboud University as a full-time student for the academic year and Master’s degree programme for which the scholarship will be awarded.

The application for  admission and the application for the scholarship is fully integrated, there is no separate procedure for the scholarship. You apply for a Radboud Scholarship by indicating on your Master’s application form for admission that you wish to apply for a Radboud Scholarship.

Top 15 Scholarships in Sweden for International Students

Up until 2010,  Sweden has been one of the few countries in Europe where you can study for free. The Swedish Government has then passed a law that charges tuition and application fees for students from non-EU/EEA countries to be supplemented by Swedish Scholarship Programs. In addition, a significant number of Swedish Universities still offer scholarships in the form of tuition waivers for international students.

Swedish Institute Study Scholarships
The Swedish Institute provides scholarships in Sweden to highly-qualified international students from developing countries who wants to pursue a Masters or Bachelor’s Degree in many fields of study at Sweden Universities.  The scholarship covers both living costs and tuition fees.  About 120 scholarships are offered yearly.

Guest Scholarship Program for PhD and Postdoctoral Studies in Sweden
The Guest Scholarship Program provides PhD candidates and Postdoctoral researchers with an excellent opportunity to conduct a study or research visit to a Swedish university within all academic fields.  The scholarships are for candidates from developing countries identified by ODA as well as candidates from Canada, France, Germany, Great Britain, Japan, Saudi Arabia, South Korea, the United Arab Emirates and the United States.  The scholarship amounts to SEK 12,000 per month for PhD students and SEK 15,000 for post-doctoral studies (plus travel grants and insurance in certain cases).  Only about 30 scholarships are awarded yearly.

Erasmus Mundus Scholarships in Swedish Universities
The EU’s Erasmus Mundus Program makes Europe’s educational opportunities more accessible to the rest of the world by granting scholarships to non-European students attending select programs. Some of these eligible programs involve Swedish universities. Ten Swedish Universities sponsor a total of 30 Erasmus Mundus supported programs.  Erasmus Mundus Scholarships cover the living costs, tuition fees, traveling and insurance costs of the students who are accepted into supported programs.

The Visby Programme â€" Swedish Institute Baltic Sea Region Exchange Programme
The programme is open to applicants from Belarus, Estonia, Georgia, Latvia, Lithuania, Moldova, Poland, Russia, and Ukraine. It is available for master’s level (only for Belarus, Georgia, Moldova, Russia and Ukraine) and PhD/doctoral studies and post-doc research.  For Masters students, the scholarship covers both the tuition fee (which is paid directly to the Swedish university/university college by the Swedish Institute) and living expenses to the amount of SEK 9,000 per month.  The scholarship amounts to SEK 15,000 per month for PhD students andSEK 18,000 per month for postdoctoral researchers and senior scientists.

Blenkinge Institute of Technology
BTH scholarship programme for prospective students is available for citizens from non-EU/EEA countries who are required to pay tuition fees for Swedish university education.  This scholarship programme offers scholarships covering tuition fees in part or in full.

Chalmer’s University
Chalmers can offer over 90 scholarships to all students including citizens from non-EU/EEA countries.  Applications for scholarships are automatically considered against all Master’s programmes applied for at Chalmers (when the field of study is unrestricted). Scholarship value range from 75-100% tuition fee reduction while some scholarship offer stipend for living expenses.

Dalarna University
Dalarna University tuition fee waivers are available to citizens of all non-EU/EEA countries (except for some  countries) who are required to pay tuition fees for education at Dalarna University (DU).

Gotland University
Gotland University offers three (3) scholarships in the form of tuition forgiveness to the value of SEK120,000 each. The scholarships are open to all students without regard to gender, race, religion, age, national or ethnic origin, assuming all academic requirements are complete.

Gothenburg University
The University of Gothenburg Study Scholarship is aimed at applicants who have to pay tuition fees for their studies at the University.  Depending on what programme you apply to, the scholarship will cover half or more of the fee for the whole study programme.

Karlstad University
The Karlstad University Global Scholarship programme is aiming at top academic students from countries outside the European Union/European Economic Area (and Switzerland) who are required to pay tuition fees for studies. Scholarships cover 25%, 50%, 75% or 100% of the tuition fees.

KTH Royal Institute of Technology
A limited number of tuition fee waivers will be available for students from non-EU/EEA/EFTA countries who apply for a Master’s programme, autumn 2012 entry, at KTH. The tuition fee waivers are aimed at especially qualified students and they are granted on the basis of academic excellence.  If granted a scholarship, the tuition fee will be waived for the total length of the programme which is either 1 year/60 ECTS or 2 years/120 ECTS.

Lund University
The Lund University Global Scholarship Programme is targeted at top academic students who are citizens of countries from outside the European Union/European Economic Area (and Switzerland).  Scholarships may cover 25%, 50%, 75% or 100% of the tuition fee. The scholarship value is deducted from the tuition fee of the programme or free-standing course for which you are awarded a scholarship.

Stockholm University
The scholarship scheme at Stockholm University is aimed at especially qualified students admitted for Master programmes coming from countries outside of EU/EEA/Switzerland and who are required to pay tuition fees.  Stockholm University scholarships cover tuition fees only, which means that students will need to cover their own living costs.

Umea University
Umeå University offers a limited number of scholarships to students from outside the EU/EEA. Scholarships are based on merit and open only to students applying for a Master’s degree programme and students who have Umeå University as first preference at Universityadmissions.se.  If granted a scholarship, it will include a full or partial reduction of the tuition fee.

Mid Sweden University
For high performing students applying to a study programme at Mid Sweden University, the University is offering a number of scholarships which will result in a fee reduction of the tuition fee with 70 000 SEK or 125 000 SEK, depending on the programme one chooses to study.

Within the programme for international courses and training programmes 2014-2015, CIUF grants 150 scholarships for participation into the Master’s courses and and 70 for participation into the training programmes.

Eligibility:

The following criteria will apply for the selection of holders of scholarships:

1. Only applicants originating in developing countries, qualify for selection. To be eligible, candidates must reside and work in their country at the time of the introduction of the file.

2. ONLY the nationals of the selected countries (see above) are authorized to postulate with the CUD Scholarships.

3. At the beginning of the programme, candidates must be less than 40 years old for courses, and less than 45 years old for training programmes.

4. Candidates must be holders of a degree that is comparable to a Belgian University graduate degree (“licence”). However, for certain programmes different rules of admissibility may be defined, and these are specified hereafter, where appropriate.

5. Candidates must show professional experience of at least two years upon termination of their studies. Where candidates are holders of a postgraduate degree delivered by an university of an industrial country, they must show professional experience of at least three years upon termination of their studies.

6. Candidates must have a good knowledge of written and spoken French; for programmes organised in another language, good knowledge, in writing and speaking, of this language, is required. Moreover, the candidate will be asked to commit himself to study French in order to be able to participate in daily life in Belgium.

7. Candidates are not allowed to apply for more than one programme.
