The Jacobs Foundation awards research fellowships for scholars whose research focuses on the development of children and adolescents. There are two categories of fellowships i.e. early career research fellowship of 150,000 CHF for highly talented young scholars obtained his/her PhD no more than 7 years ago and advanced research fellowship of 400,000 CHF for mid career researchers obtained his/her PhD no more than 15 years ago. The application deadline is 15 April 2015.

Eligibility:
-Jacob early career Research Fellowship is available for highly talented young scholars working on child and youth development. The ideal candidate obtained his/her PhD no more than 7 years ago.
-Jacob Advanced Research Fellowship is available for most innovative mid career researchers working on child and youth development. The ideal candidate obtained his/her PhD no more than 15 years ago.
Scholarship Open for International Students: International applicants are eligible o apply for this research fellowship programme.
Scholarship Description: The Jacobs Foundation Research Fellowship Program is the only internationally open competitive fellowship program for scientists to careers in the early and mid-career, whose research focuses on the development of children and adolescents. The fellowships are awarded to highly talented and innovative young scientists and researchers in the career center, dealing with the development of children and adolescents. Simon Sommer, Head of Research at the Jacobs Foundation: âWith this program, we want the best scientists in the field of networking and promote child and youth development.â The funding from the Jacobs Foundation Research Fellowship Program are awarded directly to the institution of the Fellows and can be used over a period of three years to fund a portion of his salary or any activity in support of his research. These include, for example, salaries for staff, equipment, technical support, business trips or trainee care.
Number of award(s): Up to 7 to 11 early career research fellowships and up to 2 to 3 advanced research fellowships are available.
Duration of award(s):Â The funding from the Jacobs Foundation Research Fellowship Program are awarded directly to the institution of the Fellows and can be used over a period of three years to fund a portion of his salary or any activity in support of his research
What does it cover? Independent and Competitive Funding two Fellowship Categories:
-Jacob early career Research Fellowship: -150,000 CHF, funds may be used to cover own salary up to 50%.
-Jacob Advanced Research Fellowship: -400,000 CHF, funds may be used to cover own salary up to 25%.
Selection Criteria: Fellows are selected on the basis of their research accomplishments, creativity, and potential to become leaders in the scientific community through their contributions to the field of child and youth development. International relevance of the fellowâs planned work, the alignment of planned projects with the goals of the Jacobs Foundation, and the willingness to identify with aims and to engage actively with them will also be selection criteria.
Notification:Â Candidates will be interviewed via Skype in September 2015, and selected candidates will be notified in November 2015.
How to Apply: The following documents must be submitted online in one PDF document until 15 April 2015:
-A letter from a department head or other senior researcher supporting the candidate and describing his or her qualifications, initiative, and research;
-The candidateâs curriculum vitae including a list of the candidateâs scientific publications;
-A two-page statement by the candidate describing his or her significant scientific work and immediate research plans.
