2013 BIGSAS Postdoctoral Fellowships in African Studies in Germany

University of Bayreuth, the Bayreuth International Graduate School of African Studies (BIGSAS) offers two postdoctoral fellowship positions. One position is open for a research project in any field of African Studies represented in BIGSAS. The other position is offered for a project in the area of higher education research on/in Africa. The fellowship is offered for the period of two years starting from May 1, 2013. Eligible applicants must submit their applications till February 15, 2013.

Eligibility: -The postdoctoral appointee will hold a PhD or equivalent doctorate (e. g. ScD, MD, PsyD).
-Candidates with non-German degrees may be required to provide proof of degree equivalency.
-Linguistic skills/competences: fluent English; advanced oral skills in German are welcome.

Scholarship Open for International Students: International students can apply for this fellowship.

Scholarship Description: The Bayreuth International Graduate School of African Studies (BIGSAS) funded by the German Research Foundation within the Excellence Initiative offers two post-doctoral fellowship positions starting in May 1, 2013. The salary for the  fellowships is E 13 TV-L and is awarded for the period of two years. Job profile and expectations: The fellows will be expected to accomplish the following:
-Develop an innovative, independent and interdisciplinary research project in the field of African Studies and submit a full proposal for research funding within the two years. One position is open for a research project in any field of African Studies represented in BIGSAS. The other position is offered for a project in the area of higher education research on/in Africa.
-Lead a workgroup with doctoral students of BIGSAS, attend BIGSAS colloquia and senior scholar meetings and offer one course per term.
-Provide assistance within BIGSAS activities, including ongoing graduate school research areas.
-Conform to standards of responsible conduct in research and comply with all applicable university and departmental policies and procedures.
