Latvian Government Scholarships for Summer Schools, 2015-2016

The State Education Development Agency (Latvian Government) is inviting applications for scholarships for summer schools. Scholarships are available to students, researchers and teaching staff of several countries for studies, research and participation in summer schools in Latvian higher education institutions (HEIs) in the 2015/2016 academic year.  The participants of the summer schools have to cover travel expenses from the country of origin to the summer school location in Latvia themselves. The application deadline is 4th May, 2015.

Study Subject(s): Scholarships are awarded in any subject available at Latvian HEI.
Course Level: Only students and academic staff of foreign HEIs are eligible for the Latvian scholarship for participation in summer schools.

Eligibility: -The scholarships will be transferred by the VIAA to the summer school organizers, no money will be handed out to the Latvian scholarship winners.
-The participants of the summer schools have to cover travel expenses from the country of origin to the summer school location in Latvia themselves.

Scholarship Open for International Students: Citizens from countries which have signed an Agreement (Azerbaijan, Georgia, Mongolia, Uzbekistan, Belgium (Flanders Community and French Community of Belgium), Greece, Peru, Hungary, Poland, Bulgaria, China, Israel, Portugal, Croatia, Italy, Slovenia, Cyprus, Kazakhstan, Spain, Czech Republic, South Korea, Turkey, Estonia, Lithuania, Tajikistan, Finland, Mexico, Turkmenistan, France, Moldova and United Kingdom) or offer scholarships for Latvian students (Austria, Iceland, Slovakia, United States of America, Denmark, Japan, Sweden, Germany, Norway and Switzerland) can apply for these Latvian government scholarships.

Scholarship Description: Only citizens from countries which have signed an Agreement with Latvia or offer scholarships for Latvian students can apply for the Latvian government scholarships. The amount of the Latvian scholarship granted by the VIAA for summer school is 711 EUR per person for the duration of the summer school.

Number of award(s): Available budget for the Latvian scholarships for the academic year 2015/2016 allows to grant 18 scholarships for participation in summer schools.

Duration of award(s): Scholarships are offered for the duration of the summer school.

What does it cover? The amount of the Latvian scholarship granted by the VIAA for summer school is 711 EUR per person for the duration of the summer school.

Selection criteria: Not Known

Notification: The Evaluation Committee of VIAA takes the decision on granting of Latvian scholarships. The organizing HEI informs all scholarship candidates about the final granting decision in June.

How to Apply: The mode of applying is by post. Information on how to apply for the scholarship for participation in summer schools can be found on the website of the HEI organizing the summer school session. The web site will give details on all the necessary documents:
-Application form of the summer school;
-Curriculum Vitae;
-Motivation letter.
-The application package has to be sent directly to the organizers of the summer schools with the following exceptions: Lithuanian, Estonian, Czech, Hungarian and Polish candidates have to send the dossiers to the competent authorities of their countries.
