SSPSSR Quants PhD Scholarship at University of Kent in UK, 2015

University of Kent is offering PhD scholarship in any area of quantitative sociology, social policy, or criminology within the School of Social Policy, Sociology and Social Research (SSPSSR). The scholarship covers tuition fees at the postgraduate standard home/EU rate (£3,996) in addition to an annual maintenance stipend of £13,863 per annum (for entry in September/October 2015 only) and an additional allowance of £3,000 per year to encourage candidates to undertake training in and to apply advanced quantitative methods. The applications deadline is 31 January 2015.

Scholarship Description: SSPSSR is pleased to offer a number of postgraduate doctoral research student scholarships each year. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of an innovative research and teaching initiative in the School of Social Policy, Sociology and Social Research (SSPSSR), one of the largest and highest ranked centres for social science in the UK and Europe. The successful candidate will undertake research in any area of quantitative sociology, social policy, or criminology. Your time will mostly be dedicated to your PhD as part of our commitment to enhancing quantitative research through a new faculty-wide network and a joint initiative with UEA and the University of Essex. Alongside this, you would do a limited amount of teaching within the Kent Q-Step Centre â€" a £2m initiative to transform undergraduate quantitative methods skills, which at Kent involves a number of exciting innovations on the cutting-edge of quantitative teaching.
