Eligibility:
The person we seek must possess a Master of Sc. degree (or equivalent, 240 “högskolepoäng” in Biology, Biochemistry, Applied Biotechnology or a related field.) She/he should have a strong interest and general skills in cell biology, biochemistry, proteomics and bioinformatics. Good oral and written proficiency in English is required. Experience with experimental work in microbial genetics and synthetic biology is an advantage.

Scholarship Description: We seek a highly motivated individual with a strong interest in pursuing a PhD degree in chemistry with specialization in microbial chemistry. As a graduated student you will be part of a research group that has a long-term goal to develop photosynthetic microorganisms that convert solar energy to a future energy carrier by using advanced systems metabolic engineering.The work will mainly be to apply systems biology and molecular strategies to identify and investigate proteins involved in the cellular defence against oxidative stress and in redox signalling pathways in cyanobacteria. The project involves proteomics, genetic/metabolic engineering, chemical- and physiological-characterizations.
