Scholarship Description: Getty Scholar grants are for established scholars, artists, or writers who have attained distinction in their fields. Recipients are in residence at the Getty Research Institute, where they pursue their own projects free from academic obligations, make use of Getty collections, join their colleagues in a weekly meeting devoted to an annual theme, and participate in the intellectual life of the Getty.

Tenure of award: The tenure for this award three to nine months: September to December 2013; January to June 2014; or September 2013 to June 2014
Value: A stipend of up to $65,000 per year will be awarded based on length of stay, need, and salary.
Other Benefits: The grant also includes an office at the Getty Research Institute or the Getty Villa, research assistance, an apartment in the Getty scholar housing complex, and airfare to and from Los Angeles. These terms apply as of August 2012 and are subject to future changes. Selection criteria:Getty Scholar grants are awarded on a competitive basis.
Notification: Applicants are notified of the Getty Research Instituteâs decision approximately six months following the deadline.
How to Apply: Online, Applicants are required to complete and submit the online Getty Residential Scholar application form, which includes completing an online information sheet, and uploading a Project Proposal, Curriculum Vitae, and optional Writing Sample.
