The candidates must have a PhD or other corresponding education equivalent to a Norwegian doctoral degree in astronomy/astrophysics, computer science, applied mathematics or a related discipline. The main purpose of post-doctoral research fellowships is to qualify researchers for work in top academic positions within their disciplines.

Scholarship Description: The position is for up to three years (depending on starting date) and is funded by the ERC Starting Grant project âAnisotropic Universe â" Fluke or Reality?â led by associate professor Hans Kristian Eriksen. This project aims at understanding whether previously reported anomalies in the WMAP sky maps are real or statistical/instrumental flukes, using modern statistical techniques. A major part of the work will include development of a CMB/LSS Gibbs sampler in Python, and a strong programming background is therefore required. The successful candidate is also expected to participate in ESAâs Planck experiment.

Tenure of award: The fellowship period is up to three years, depending on start date, and ending no later than December 31st 2015. No one can be appointed for more than one specified period at the same institution.
