2012-2013 WIT PhD Scholarships Programme, Ireland

The Research Support Unit (RSU) invites Applications for PhDScholarship Programme at Waterford Institute of Technology, 2012-2013 Ireland

Eligibility:
-The WIT PhD Scholarship Programme is open to PhD supervisors from all Schools within WIT.
-Project Supervisors must be full-time or contract academic or research staff with a PhD whose contract extends for the duration of the project.If you do not have a contract for the duration of the project.
-please ensure that adequate co-supervisory arrangements are in place
-No lead supervisor will be awarded more than one award per annum
-Joint, collaborative submissions from Schools or Departments are welcome
-Applicants must achieve a minimum threshold of 70% of the total marks available and at least 50% of the available marks for each criterion.  Proposals which meet this threshold will then be ranked and scholarships awarded on the basis of the overall scores.
-Awards are made subject to funding being available and WIT reserves the right not to award any or all scholarships.

Scholarship Open for International Students: This scholarship is not for International Students

Scholarship Description: The purpose of this Scholarship programme is to promote high-end research directed towards the generation and application of new knowledge and the provision of research and development training for highly skilled graduates leading to the award of a PhD.

Numbers of awards offered: 10 Scholarships

Tenure of award: 3 years

Value: The scholarship will provide an annual stipend of €10,000.  A budget of €2,000 annually will be allocated to cover materials, consumables and travel costs.  In addition, an allowance of €4,000 per annum will be awarded to cover postgraduate tuition fees for full-time students.

Selection Criteria: Quality of the proposal: (40 marks), Training & Career Development Plan: (10 Marks), Dissemination & Impact (10 marks), Relevance to the Research Strategy of the Institute, School or Department: (20 marks) and The Experience of Supervisor(s) in the relevant area: (20 marks).
