Eligibility:
-UK citizen (resident anywhere except the United States), and
-hold or expect to receive a PhD in a relevant area before departure to the US, and
-have at least one year’s experience of lecturing to undergraduate students The award is suitable for junior, mid-career or senior scholars and is open to all areas of specialisation in British History.

Scholarship Description: The Fulbright Awards Programme is the only organisation that offers scholarships for academic work in any subject, at any accredited US university.

Value: Total offer is of $52,500

Other Benefits: Additional aids are a significant travel budget (up to $10,000) that will cover economy return travel for the Scholar and up to 4 dependents plus internal travel in the US for attendance at lectures and conferences, is also available. Smaller allowances for entertainment ($400), office supplies ($60), and printing are also provided. The Scholar will also have the option of renting a reasonably priced house and car on campus.

Selection criteria:The Fulbright Awards Programme is looking not only for academic excellence but also:
•demonstrable ambassadorial skills with evidence of cultural sensitivity and a genuine desire to learn more about the United States and share with American citizens aspects of British culture,
•experience and interest in a range of extracurricular and community activities,
•leadership potential, and
•a desire to further the Fulbright Programme and give back to your home country upon returning.
