Scholarship Description: The Astronomy Group at the University of Southampton has an opening for a postdoctoral researcher to become part of the ERC funded LODESTONE project of Dr Anna Scaife. The LODESTONE project unifies the polarization key science projects from multiple next generation radio telescopes to investigate the origin and evolution of comic magnetic fields in large-scale structure. In this context, the project will also put an accent on the development of advanced signal processing and imaging approaches for radio astronomy. The successful applicant will work with Dr Scaife (Southampton) and Dr Yves Wiaux (EPFL) on the development of such novel signal processing and imaging approaches (inverse problems, sparsity, sampling, reconstruction, statistical analysis, etc.) for radio astronomy. Candidates are expected to have a background in signal processing or applied statistical analysis, and a sound interest in astronomy. Applied experience in radio astronomy, astrophysics or cosmology will be considered advantageous.
