Eligibility:
-This is a computer-based project suitable for a student with numerical skills, who would relish the opportunity to address challenging biological problems and develop methods leading to applied solutions.
-The successful candidate will have a good first degree (first or upper second class) in Biology, Animal or Veterinary Science, Genetics, Mathematical Biology or other relevant subjects.

Scholarship Description: This is a collaborative project between The School of Agriculture, Food & Rural Development at Newcastle University, Roslin Institute at Edinburgh University, both the UK leading Institutes in their respective fields, and Merial Animal Health. It aims to develop mathematical models to be used to
(i) quantify the impacts of the most significant infection, worm parasitism in cattle,
(ii) develop scenarios and generate hypotheses regarding their integrated control, with emphasis on genetic and management, and
(iii) develop a tool to be used to advise on effective integrated parasite control strategies. Combining expertise in biology, veterinary science and mathematical modelling, the project will equip the student with unique skills for a future career.

Value of the Award: The award is only available to UK and EU Nationals who have been ordinarily resident in the UK for the last 3 years. The award covers 4 years tuition fees and will pay a generous stipend of £16,090pa.
