Course Level: This scholarship is open to candidates studying for a full-time DPhil in Medical Sciences or Mathematical, Physical & Life Sciences.
Scholarship Provider:Â The National Council for Scientific and Technological Development (CNPq) is a public foundation established in 1974 under the Ministry of Science, Technology, and Innovation (MCTI) of Federative Republic of Brazil.

Eligibility:-Eligible candidates should be nationals of Brazil, not ordinarily resident in a state within the European Economic Area.
-Applicants must intend to return to their home country at the end of their studies.
-This scholarship is open to candidates studying for a full-time DPhil in Medical Sciences or Mathematical, Physical & Life Sciences. Candidates should be applying to start a new course at Oxford in October 2013.
-The awards will be made based on academic merit and/or potential.
-These awards may be held in conjunction with other scholarships, although such other funding shall be taken into account and in most cases will lead to a commensurate reduction in the amount of the award.
-Please ensure you meet the requirements for entry to your course, including English language requirements.
-Deferred entry students are not eligible to apply for this scholarship.
Scholarship Open for International Students: The students of Brazil can apply for this scholarship.
Scholarship Description:Â The National Council for Scientific and Technological Development (CNPq) is a public foundation established in 1974 under the Ministry of Science, Technology, and Innovation (MCTI) of Federative Republic of Brazil. The foundation provides scholarships to graduate and undergraduate Brazilian students for a degree at the University of Oxford as part of their execution of public policies in the areas of education, science, technology and innovation. Between ten and thirteen scholarships will be awarded in 2013-14 for doctoral programmes in Maths, Physical and Life Sciences and Medical Sciences subject areas.
Number of awards offered: Total 10 to 13 Scholarships are offered.Â
Tenure of award: The award is tenable for the period of fee liability (usually the same length as the course). If your scholarship is offered for a course lasting more than one year, the continuation of your scholarship each year is subject to an annual renewal process based on satisfactory academic progress.
What does it cover?  100% of university and college fees and a grant for living expenses equal to the UK Research Councils minimum doctoral stipend (£13,590 in 2012-13) for the period of fee liability; and any University and college continuation fee for one terrn together with a maintenance grant for a further six months following the expiration of the standard length of the course.

Notification:Â Successful candidates will be notified by email by the end of April 2013.
How to Apply: Â You do not need to actively apply for this scholarship. All eligible candidates that apply by the relevant January deadline (4 January 2013 for Medical Sciences, Philosophy Politics and International Relations; 18 January 2013 for all other subjects) will be considered.
